This year, the “Key To The Cure” Gala Party unlocked a treasure chest of mixing, mingling and shopping for a great cause. There was a calm before the party-goers storm as this highly anticipated yearly event held at Saks Fifth Avenue opened its doors to a sea of fashionably dressed woman (and some handsome stylish gentleman ) ready to take on the cause.
The stage was already set at Saks, with two floors of live entertainment, delicious food stations located around the store (catered by the award-winning Michaels on East ) and designer clothing that would please the most discriminating woman.
It was truly an inspiring and uplifting evening that was a celebration of fashion, shopping & survivors, and bring awareness to the fight against women’s cancers. It was an honor to be a part of this charitable initiative and as a full-time resident in Sarasota, comforting to know that all the proceeds raised from this event will stay right here in Sarasota County. We deeply appreciate and applaud all your hard work and continued dedication to this extremely important cause. Your commitment and courage will never be forgotten.

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. for the 2015 Key To The Cure
Charity Shopping Weekend
Sarasota, Florida – August 1, 2015 Saks Fifth Avenue and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) announced today that Oscar®-winning actress Julianne Moore has been named the 2015 Ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key To The Cure campaign against cancer. To help raise money and cancer awareness, Saks Fifth Avenue at The Mall at University Town Center will partner with Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. to host KEY TO THE CURE on Thursday, October 15, 2015.
This year marks the 10th Anniversary that Sarasota Memorial Health Care System has partnered with Saks Fifth Avenue Sarasota on Key to the Cure, a weekend shopping event and special evening party sponsored locally by Saks Fifth Avenue. During this year’s four-day event, October 15 – 18, Sarasota’s Saks Fifth Avenue at The Mall at University Town Center will donate a percentage of their sales to benefit Sarasota Memorial Health Care System’s Women’s Cancer Care Programs.
To kick off the special shopping weekend, Saks Fifth Avenue Sarasota will host a spectacular event Thursday evening, October 15. The Key to the Cure Kick-Off will feature food, beverages, entertainment, shopping and an exclusive “key event” that is sure to unlock some treasures for all!
“Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way, whether you’ve cared for a loved one facing a cancer diagnosis, or contended with cancer yourself. So I’m honored to work with the Entertainment Industry Foundation and Saks Fifth Avenue to highlight the mission to make everyone diagnosed with cancer a survivor,” said Julianne Moore. “I hope everyone will join me in supporting this important cause by purchasing a Key To The Cure T-Shirt.”
Now in its 17th year, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Key To The Cure campaign has enlisted Jason Wu to design this year’s limited-edition T-Shirt, benefiting Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc. Available for purchase beginning on October 1 in Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online at saks.com and saksoff5th.com, the tee will retail for $35, with 100% of sales benefiting Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation, Inc.
“It is an honor to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue on their signature charitable initiative Key To The Cure this year. My hope is that people purchase the limited edition tee, which benefits an initiative that has made great strides in cancer research,” said Jason Wu.
Marc Metrick, President of Saks Fifth Avenue, stated, “We look forward to Key To The Cure every October. It’s really great to see our stores, customers and vendors rally together to support such a great cause in raising awareness and funds.”
Julianne Moore will appear in a national public service announcement (PSA) wearing the
Jason Wu-designed limited-edition tee. The Key To The Cure PSA will appear in major fashion and lifestyle magazines in September and October. Saks Fifth Avenue’s charity shopping weekend will take place Thursday through Sunday, October 15 to 18, at all Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online at saks.com and saksoff5th.com.
Saks Fifth Avenue initiated its charity shopping weekend in 1999. To date, the company has donated more than $36 million to cancer research and treatment organizations throughout the United States. Organizations benefiting from these funds include: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation; EIF’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund; Cleveland Clinic; Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; Nevada Cancer Institute and many others.
To date, this event has raised more than $1,000,000 locally to further breast, ovarian, uterine and cervical cancer research and related projects in the Sarasota/Manatee community. All of the proceeds raised from the event will stay right here in Sarasota County and will go directly to Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) through the Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation. Proceeds are earmarked for SMHCS Cancer Care Programs and will continue to benefit the prevention and treatment of women’s cancers, with funds slated for state-of-the-art technological and surgical approaches as well as genetic education and testing.
