The Motor City Brass Band gives back to the community in many ways. Our next 2 concerts are part of our  educational outreach program.  Each year, the brass band partners with a Detroit area musician and 3 public high schools in the metro Detroit area.  Each school receives a clinic and a concert with the brass band.  This year we are pleased to work with professional trombonist John Rutherford. 

John has performed, toured, and recorded with: Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet BandThe Detroit Symphony OrchestraYo-Yo Ma and The Silk Road EnsembleThe Toledo Symphony OrchestraThe Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra and many other groups in Michigan and all over the world. He has recorded for Jive Records, Warner Brothers and Capitol Records among many others.

He has taught at the following institutions: Oakland University Albion CollegeThe University of Toledo , and The Boston University – Tanglewood Institute  and given clinics and masterclasses at many high schools in Michigan and Ohio, including Cranbrook, University Liggett, and Detroit School Of Arts, Grosse Pointe South, Birmingham Seaholm, and West Bloomfield High School.
