The 2016 ACM New Vocal Duo/Group of the Year Nominee recently revealed its new single in true Parmalee fashion by giving fans a behind-the-scenes video of a special headlining performance at their alma mater, East Carolina University’s Minges Coliseum. Watch the touching footage, which Taste of Country exclusively premiered HERE.

In addition to early radio support surrounding “Roots” the equally impactful music video will premiere exclusively on CMT Hot 20 Countdown and will be available across all CMT platforms following the premiere broadcast on May 7th.  Fans can subsequently catch the video playing on CMT, CMT Music, and on CMT.com at Parmalee.CMT.com. The poignant video, directed by Peter Zavadil, pays homage to the group’s upbringing and unique rise in Country music with a touch of heartfelt nostalgia.

Available everywhere now, “Roots,” depicts a personal journey for the band-of-brothers. Lead singer Matt Thomas says of the single, “It’s about where you come from and all the things that make you you. Those things always stay with you throughout life, and no matter how hard you might try, you can’t outrun them.”

The song is laden with emotional depth with lyrics like: “There’s still that back home part of me / That can’t help but see things a little different / Like how there ain’t no need to put a g on the end of huntin’ or fishin’ / And I still got granddaddy’s bible, his old rifle, and his name / But I also got his pour a little more coursing through my veins.”

The release of “Roots” also lays the groundwork for ParMAYlee, a month-long celebration of fan appreciation. Each day throughout the month of May fans can visit www.ParMaylee.com to unlock exclusive content and giveaways directly from the band themselves. Fans can join the discussion online as well using hashtag #PayMAYlee.
