Free youth baseball clinic to feature Darrell Evans, Jim Leyritz and other MLB Alumni

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Local youth will have an opportunity to play with their big league heroes at the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) Legends for Youth baseball clinic series on Saturday, August 9th, 2014. The free clinic features former Major League Baseball players who will teach baseball skills, drills and life lessons for approximately 200 local youth ages 6 – 16.

Players attending* include two-time All-Star Darrell Evans and World Series champion Jim Leyritz, as well as Shawn Barton, Darren Bragg, Doug Clemens, Angel Echevarria, Dave Fleming, Tim Foli, Rich Folkers, John Lamb, Skip Lockwood and Fred Valentine. These 12 players combine for 112 years, 8,366 games and 5,806 hits in Major League Baseball.

The clinic will take place at New Britain Stadium, home of the New Britain Rock Cats, runningfrom 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., located at 230 John Karbonic Way, New Britain, CT 06051. Alumni players will train at stations including pitching, catching, baserunning and life skills. Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. The afternoon will conclude with an autograph session for children in attendance.
