LOS ANGELES (June 17, 2016) — Dillon Jordan, CEO of PaperChase Films™, is pleased to announce the release of the highly anticipated documentary feature AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIME$ OF DJ AM today, Friday, June 17th, on iTUNES and PLAYSTATION.

Directed and produced by the critically acclaimed documentarian Kevin Kerslake (BOB MARLEY LEGEND REMIXED, ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL EXPERIENCE, RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS: GREATEST VIDEOS), the film intimately documents the triumphs and tribulations of the legendary DJ AM.

“AM was the DJ that completely changed the game, but he wasn’t without struggles,” said Jordan, who is also an associate producer on the film. “The documentary not only sheds light on this influential man’s life, but more importantly carries with it AM’s message of hope, acceptance and reformation. I’m elated to have been able to work with the talented Kevin Kerslake and to have contributed to a film of such immense value and purpose as AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIME$ OF DJ AM.”

DJ AM was an American DJ, remixer and musician. He was a member of the rock band Crazy Town from 1999 until 2001, and was a successful solo DJ, performing for years at Caesars Palace as well as at private events for various celebrities, many of whom were good friends. He was also one half of TRV$DJAM along with close friend Travis Barker. His myriad television appearances include a featured guest spot as himself in the Entourage episode “What About Bob?“, as a guest DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and an episode of Punk’d, where Nicole Richie was the subject of a practical joke.

DJ AM died in August of 2009 but his work continues to live on. DJ AM had an extended cameo as himself in IRON MAN 2. The film was dedicated to his memory. He was also involved with Activision’s DJ Hero and after his death, Activision vice president Tim Riley said of him, “We hope that his work on the game will be a fitting tribute to his creative spirit and musical talent.”

DJ AM posthumously won “DJ of the Year” at the 2009 BET Hip Hop Awards.

AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIME$ OF DJ AM garnered tremendous support through a crowd funded INDIEGOGO campaign that amassed over 1100 backers; a true testament to the impact DJ AM had on industry and fans alike. Some of the top artists of our time, such as Jay-Z, Steve Aoki and Mark Ronson shine light on the influence DJ AM had on the music industry and how he became the first DJ rock star that paved the way for artists to follow. This riveting documentary will leave audiences grateful for DJ AM’s innovative contributions and create more fans for his legacy to live on.
