DRAGONS TYLER MAHLE NAMED MIDWEST LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE MONTH FOR JULY
DAYTON, OHIO—Dayton Dragons starting pitcher Tyler Mahle has been named Midwest League Pitcher of the Month for July.
Mahle made five starts during the month, posting a record of 4-0 with a 0.58 earned run average. In 31 innings, he allowed only three runs (one was unearned), surrendering 20 hits with five walks and 21 strikeouts. Opponents batted just .183 against him.
Mahle (pronounced to rhyme with Rally), is a 20-year-old right-hander from Westminster, California. He was signed as a sixth round draft pick by the Reds in 2013.
Mahle is a strong candidate for Midwest League Pitcher of the Year. He is 11-6 with a 2.53 ERA. He ranks second in the league in ERA, tied for third in wins, first in strikeouts, and third in innings pitched.
The Dragons open a six-game homestand tonight when they host the Peoria Chiefs at Fifth Third Field at 7:00 p.m. For ticket information, call (937) 228-2287.
