Bantam Studios, a school run by Pete Lanctot and Ginger Dolden, has had a great response offering adult beginner violin lessons paired with free wine and beer, creating a casual atmosphere for both expanding musical horizons and, you know, being sneaky drunk. This time they’re adding guitar lessons to the mix as well.
Pete and Ginger are well known for their musical involvement in groups and organizations such as The Hot Sardines, The String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Joe’s Pub, Issue Project Room, Roulette, Shanghai Mermaid and the American Folk Art Museum. For only $220, you’ll get eight weeks of adult beginner group violin or guitar lessons, plus free beer and wine.
This group gathering is designed to equip adult beginners with basic playing skills and an expanded knowledge of the many genres where violin and guitar collide. At the end of the semester, students will have an opportunity to perform the repertoire learned throughout the course in a casual concert for friends and families at a performance venue in Brooklyn.
Classes start next week on March 29, with multiple dates and times to choose from.
If you have questions or comments about the classes, please fill out the form at the bottom of this link and we’ll get back to you ASAP.
