CIFD Announces New Business Development Program for U.S. Market
The Council of International Fashion Designers, along with our strategic partners at Fashion Market Entry (a division of KREA Global, LLC) and Human B have launched a new business development and market entry program for emerging designers and established brands preparing to enter the U.S. market. The program consists of four distinct packages with a “start to finish” programming and a variety of business development initiatives to assist designers of all levels in developing their brands for success in the American fashion market. The program begins with a brand evaluation and continues with individual consulting, development, market entry and buyer introductions.
“One size does not fit all and in our virtual world, there still needs to be the personal guidance to nurture both emerging and established brands who are already working in, or planning to enter the American market. Through my 20 years at the helm of Miami Fashion Week, the biggest concern of all designers was on the business side of their operations and what needed to be done to develop their brands, reach buyers and achieve commercial success in the U.S. market. Through the “Black Book” of industry experts that the Council of International Fashion Designers has developed , we continue to build the professional business platform providing true solutions to brands from around the world,” says Beth Sobol, founder of the CIFD.
The new CIFD Business Development program begins with a deep brand evaluation and continues with a market/competitive analysis, pricing and margins, branding and marketing materials, daily business operations, articulating your brand’s USP (Unique Selling Proposition), merchandising the line correctly for the American market, training your brands sales and management teams on best practices and new techniques, generating a strategic plan for developing partnerships in the U.S., identification and prioritization of prospective buyers, and the final buyers outreach are all included in the four-step program.
“Every fashion brand outside of the U.S. wants to break into the American market. In order to be successful, brands must have a complete understanding of the U.S. wholesale and retail markets and design a launch strategy that includes the brands esthetics, correct sizing and pricing, silhouette and fabric choices, retailer and consumer buying habits, and much more that is specifically tailored for the American buyers. For over 20 years, we have helped to build, and successfully launch hundreds of domestic and international brands from the ground up, and we are very excited to partner with the CIFD by bringing our vast knowledge and expertise to its members,” says Boaz David, founder of Human B.
Sonia Garcia, founder of Fashion Market Entry states, “Entering the American market is challenging and costly if you don’t get the dynamics right. Commercial success in the U.S. fashion sector relies on many factors including a strong collection and marketing materials, a comprehensive market entry strategy, and a strong and appropriate distribution and sales network. Our consultants will work with each brand individually to assess their capabilities and assist them in establishing strategic partnerships with potential U.S. buyers.”
Many fashion firms have failed in their attempt to enter the U.S. market simply due to the lack of a clear preparation, a market entry plan, and the tenacity required for success.
