Most voice actors will agree that there are plenty of voice-over jobs available, especially in television, however that’s not always the case for voice actresses.  Just take a look at Lake Bell’s recent movie “In A World…” that addresses the struggles of female voice actresses.  
 
Alicyn Packard hopes to help shatter the voice actress glass ceiling with her recent nomination for a Voice Arts Award as the only female nominated in the Outstanding National Promo Category.  Packard is the voice of the Ovation Network, and stands alone as the only female in the category.

Voice of the Ovation Network is sole Female Nominee
in National Promo Campaign Category
Los Angeles October 23rd, 2014 — American voice actress, Alicyn Packard, who lends
her voice to hit cartoon shows like The Tom and Jerry Show, Poppy Cat and Space
Racers, has been nominated for the 2014 Voice Arts Awards in the Outstanding
National Promo Campaign category. In addition to receiving the Voice Arts Awards
nomination, Packard is the first and only woman to be nominated in the Promo
Campaign category.
Packard’s nomination recognizes her work as the voice of Ovation, America’s only arts
network, which has been running promos featuring Packard’s voice since 2013.
Packard stands alone as the only female in the category, nominated alongside two
voice actors for NBC Sports Group, one for FOX’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine and one for NBA
on TNT.
“Being nominated for the inaugural Voice Arts Awards is truly an honor,” says Packard.
“Working with Ovation has been a dream come true for me. There is a shift that is
occurring in television promo and more opportunities are opening up for women. I’m

York.
Packard, a Massachusetts’ South Shore native, honed her acting and voice-over skills
while at Emerson College, where she earned a “Best Female Performance” nomination
from Emerson’s highly regarded EVVY committee. She also gained notoriety as a DJ at
WERS, Emerson’s award-winning radio station, for her warm and sensual voice, which
attracted numerous radio promos, audiobooks and commercials including McDonald’s,
Target, Dunkin Donuts and CVS as well as an eight-month stint as the voice of
publisher Prentice Hall’s interactive textbooks.
Packard is also hard at work these days writing, directing, and starring in original
comedy shorts for her YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/alicyncomedy) while
she currently voices characters for The Tom and Jerry Show on the Cartoon Network,
Poppy Cat on NBC and Sprout, and Space Racers on Public Television. Packard past
voice acting credits include The Mr. Men Show on Cartoon Network and Olivia on Nick
Jr.
