About the Artists
Named by CBC as one of the 25 “Greatest Canadian Singers Ever,” Jully Black has topped the charts, raked in numerous awards, collaborated with performers including Sean Paul and Destiny’s Child, and shared the stage with The Black Eyed Peas, Kanye West, Elton John and Etta James.
Rita Chiarelli has released nine albums and won every major Canadian blues award, including the prestigious Maple Blues ‘Blues With A Feeling Award’ for Lifetime Achievement, as well as garnering four JUNO nominations and a JUNO Award.
Considered one of Canada’s most electrifying and versatile guitarists, Montreal-based guitarist/singer-songwriter Cécile Doo-Kingué blends blues, her Cameroonian roots and soul to create a unique sound that has blossomed over three albums, garnering a long trail of critical acclaim and awards.
Hamiltonian singer, guitarist and songwriter Terra Lightfoot melds expert finger-picking and distorted, hook-heavy melodies to create music equally effective and affecting ranging from slow-burning soul ballads to hard-charging rock tunes.
Crystal Shawanda started performing when she was 6, started getting paid gigs when she was 10, and recorded an album at 13. Scoring a top-20 country album with Dawn of a New Day, her blues roots have shone through on recent releases that showcase her modern take on the blues deeply rooted in both heart-wrenching laments and catchy rump-shakers.
Saskatoon native and Toronto-based guitarist, singer and songwriter Suzie Vinnick is a multiple award-winning artist and member of the Women’s Blues Revue band who has released five albums under her own name plus several with the Marigolds and with Rick Fines, toured extensively across the US and Canada as well as performing for Canadian peacekeepers in Bosnia and the Persian Gulf.
