Wichita State University To Improve Eck Stadium in a Big Way
Daktronics video display to be among largest in college baseball
BROOKINGS, S.D. – Nov. 30, 2015 – Shocker fans will have a bigger reason to cheer when the 2016 baseball season begins as Wichita State University has partnered with Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to provide a new LED video display that will be top five in all of college baseball at nearly 1,300 square feet. Installation will begin early in 2016 at Eck Stadium, home of Tyler Field in Wichita, Kansas.
“This investment will continue our commitment to address facility needs,” Deputy Athletic Director Darron Boatright said. “We are proud of our first-class facilities and recognize the need to keep them up to date.”
“We are excited to announce for our Shocker fans and players a new addition to the program: a new jumbo Daktronics scoreboard for opening day 2016,” Wichita State head coach Todd Butler said. “The addition of this state-of-the-art scoreboard will enhance our atmosphere at Eck Stadium with music, video, advertisement and modern scoreboard updates. This will be one of the top five scoreboards in all of college baseball.”
The display will measure approximately 20.5 feet high by 63.5 feet wide and will feature a 15HD pixel layout to provide crisp, clear imagery with wide angle visibility to appeal to every seat at Eck Stadium. It features variable content zoning which allows it to show one large image or it can be divided into multiple windows to show a variety of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
“This is an exciting project for us to work on as we partner with Wichita State University to bring one of the largest video displays in college baseball to their campus,” said Ryan Kuzman, Daktronics sales representative. “It’s sure to improve the fan experience and we’re looking forward to seeing the flexibility it provides the university on game days to show video, stats and more.”
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology features industry-leading environmental protection for a long lifetime with consistent performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
