Venice Theatre to hold open auditions Oct. 25 – 27, 2014
Murray Chase seeks performers for A Christmas Carol and Disney’s and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins
(Venice, FL) Director Murray Chase, Musical Director Michelle Kasanofsky, and Choreographer Teri DeNiro are seeking performers of all ages to audition for Venice Theatre’s annual production of A Christmas Carol. Auditions take place Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m. Performances of A Christmas Carol are in the MainStage auditorium Dec. 18-21, 2014.
Chase is also holding auditions on Sunday, Oct. 26 and Monday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. for the upcoming MainStage musical Disney’s and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins. He and his team (Music Director Michelle Kasanofsky and Choreographer Geena Ravella) are casting all ages for a large chorus and more than a dozen roles. The chorus and several main characters will be required to tap dance. Performances of Mary Poppins will run Feb. 17 – March 15, 2015.
For both shows, auditioners are asked to prepare a song, bring sheet music for the accompanist, and dress comfortably for the dance portion of the audition. They should also be prepared to read from the script. Perusal scripts are available by calling the Directors Office at 941-484-4033.
