|October 30, 2020 – Today, VALDEZ (aka Nate Valdez), a self-taught songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, has released the perfect track for your Halloween weekend playlist, “Ghost.” The second single from his forthcoming album, the track features a vocal that channels The Cure’s Robert Smith and serves as an ode to spirits who need real people to validate their existence – a nod to some “mysterious occurrences” the artist experienced while working in his grandfather’s mortuary as a teenager (PRESS HERE to listen).
“We’re all just ghosts / waiting for our hosts / or someone to believe.”
“Nick is a fan of my other band and would come to shows and rock out,” said VALDEZ. “He always makes his own music videos of him playing along to songs that he loves, and his passion for music is so contagious. I wanted to show the world how awesome he is!”
Influenced by artists like Neutral Milk Hotel and Bright Eyes, VALDEZ has created a signature minimalist-but-not-quite Lo-Fi sound that’s all his own. The unique artist grew up in the rural Colorado town of Las Animas, Spanish for “the souls,” an apt name for his set of forthcoming songs which are filled with intimations of mortality, fading memories, regrets and the presence of otherworldly spirits.
PRESSHERE to watch the captivating visual (created by Nate himself) for the project’s debut single – Saint Munchausen. The song is a frantic, first-person, horn-punctuated rant of a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy – a disease in which those trying to help are actually hurting you – which the rising artist uses as a metaphor for the music business.
Don’t be scared, there’s a lot more music coming soon!
