I was deeply saddened to hear of Mario Vázquez Raña’s passing and offer my sincere condolences to the entire Olympic family in Mexico.  Mario served the Olympic movement for the majority of his adult life, and advanced Olympic sport in the Western Hemisphere like few before him.  As leaders of the Pan American Sports Organization, it is our responsibility to build upon Mario’s legacy and to provide our full support to the athletes of the Americas.

As the leader of PASO, and previously the head of ANOC and Olympic Solidarity, Mario Vázquez Raña has positively impacted athletes around the world for more than four decades.
