TIM TEBOW FOUNDATION TO HOST NIGHT TO SHINE VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE
(January 25, 2021, Jacksonville, FL) With the 2021 Night to Shine less than two weeks away, the Tim Tebow Foundation has seen an incredible outpouring of support for their annual Night to Shine event, despite moving it to primarily a virtual platform in its seventh year.
A prom night, centered on God’s love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older, Night to Shine has served hundreds of thousands of individuals with disabilities all over the world since its inception in 2015. For the first time in the event’s history, however, the celebration will be held virtually; a response to the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“After much prayer and talking with wise council, we felt it best to move this year’s Night to Shine to a virtual event,” Founder Tim Tebow shared. “The safety of our honored guests has always been of utmost importance to us. We simply could not put them in a position where their health was at increased risk. That being said, we are so excited to introduce the Virtual Night to Shine Experience to our guests and their families. We may not be gathered in person, but there is still an incredible opportunity to love, honor, and celebrate our friends worldwide.”
Since the announcement of the virtual experience in September 2020, nearly 500 churches spread across 33 countries have signed on as an official host church, all uniting around one common belief – that all people are uniquely and perfectly made in the image of God. Together, we will honor the guests with special needs through an engaging online experience on Friday, February 12, beginning at 6:00 P.M. EST. The production will journey around the world and incorporate special messages from celebrities, singing, dancing, and of course, the official crowning ceremony announcing each honored guest as the king or queen of the prom.
Alongside the virtual experience, many churches in the United States are also implementing Shine-Thru, an additional component of this year’s event. Providing a safe in-person option for guests, all within the security of their own vehicle, Shine-Thru will feature drive-thru elements that may include a traditional red carpet, volunteers to decorate the vehicles, music, gift bags, special appearances by notable characters or local celebrities, and more. All necessary safety precautions will be taken by volunteers and event coordinators working the event. Although this option is not available in all areas, every host church of Night to Shine is dedicated to ensuring their guests feel connected and celebrated during this important time.
