The U.S. Premiere of Taking Shakespeare by John Murrell is now playing in the Gompertz Theatre. The show runs from July 23 until August 17. Make sure to order your tickets now!Who appreciates Shakespeare anymore? Murph sure doesn’t, and seeks out an older Shakespeare scholar, to bring the Bard’s words to life. Dr. Ruth Westheimer revisits her fascinating life after the death of her third husband. From her time as a young child in a Swiss orphanage to her time working as a celebrity sex therapist, Dr. Ruth approaches the chapters of her life with a charming sense of humor. A moving, funny portrayal of one woman’s determination to survive, thrive and keep learning.

Clearly Invisible… Magic Up Close with Carl Seiger is now playing in the John C. Court Cabaret and runs through August 3.
The show combines illusion, jazz, and storytelling. While reminiscing about his life as a magician, Seiger invites audiences to find out what’s up his sleeves as he performs sleight of hand up close. There is magic, and then there is Magic. Interactive in every sense of the word, Clearly Invisible combines illusion, music, and humor to stretch the boundaries of conventional theatre.

FST Improv

Laugh Until You Cry

FST Improv is back this week filling the Bowne’s Lab Theatre with laughter. Out of Bounds Summer Match Up runs EVERY Saturday at 7:30 pm now through August 23.

Full menu & bar are available! For pre-show dining & beverages,
please arrive at 6:30 pm to ensure service.
Two teams take the stage in Bowne’s Lab to duke it out for the most laughs. Taking audience suggestions, the FST Improv actors will twist and turn them into something hilarious. Who will win the duel of fools? You get to decide as they battle it out.

The final session of FST’s Summer Camp is about to begin. Do not miss your chance to enroll in the fun. Join the campers and make new friends. It is an exciting experience where young performers have a chance to develop, build, refine, and show off their skills in Acting, Improv, Dance, and more.

Available classes include:

Little Theatre Full Session | Ages 5-6

Enhance creativity, explore emotions through movement and song, and develop improvisational and story telling skills.

Session III: July 28 – August 15

Children’s Performing Arts Camp Full Session | Ages 7-12

Traditional camp with extensive acting, voice, improvisation and dance training.

Session III: July 28 – August 15

Teen Improvisation | Ages 12-17

One week Introduction to creative play, art activities, song, dance movement and Improv.

Session I: August 11 – August 15

Adult Education

Education never ends at any particular age. Summer is the perfect time to try new things and to learn something new.

Our FST classes for adults offer a creative forum to explore human and artistic potential. Workshops in Acting and Improvisation give students of all ages the opportunity to express themselves in new and exciting ways.

Available classes include:

 Writing For Performance 

Create and perform your own original work! This special five week course will guide students through various written and physical prompts in order to create a slate of original work. Monologues, duets, scenes, short plays, sketches, even music or dance… let your imagination run wild as your write, polish, and rehearse your own theatrical creations. The class will culminate with a performance of all students original work on one of the FST stages.
Prerequisite: Now Fear Acting, Devise and Conquer, or submit a theatre resume.
Saturdays | 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
July 26 – August 23
Fee: $125
This five week course is actually an intensive rehearsal process that culminates in the students performing a fully staged reading on one of our stages! Designed for students with previous acting experience either in the classroom or onstage, Page to Stage will start with a script and character analysis directly aimed at building an ensemble performance. Subsequent class meetings will focus on staging and rehearsing the play, guided by a professional director.
Prerequisite: No Fear Acting or submission of a theatre resume.
Mondays & Wednesdays | 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
July 28 – August 27

VIP Company and Young Performers Company – Summer Recital 2014
The VIP Company and the Young Performers Company came together this past weekend to perform in a truly incredible recital.

The VIP Company is made up of students with mental, physical, and emotional disabilities. The Young Performers Company is made up of students who go through special intensive acting, movement and improvisation programs that works in conjunction with our VIP Program. Students will attend advanced workshops, craft and create a full production for final performance and will be joined by our VIP students to assist and support their creative skills in preparation for a joint recital.

Our final production combines the skills and talents of the Young Performer’s Company and our VIP students in an unforgettable theatrical event. The experience of the recital is both beneficial for our VIP Company members as well as our Young Performers Company members.
