The 2016 TRU Combined Audition Event

Saturday, April 9, 2016 and Sunday, April 10, 2016

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) and generous sponsors Applause Theatre & Cinema Books, Actors Connection, BackStageBreakdown Services (Actors Access and CastingAbout), DeSotelle Theatre & Acting Studio, Precision Photos and Working Actor Studio presents the 2016 Combined Audition Event on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10:00am-6pm for musical auditions and Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 10am-6pm for drama auditions. The event will take placeat the DeSotelle Theater, 300 W. 43rd Street, #301, NYC.  The registration fee is $85 and the final registration deadline is March 28th (postmark March 26th). Discounts are available for TRU members and AEA members. Priority consideration will be given to TRU members and Equity actors, and applicants may use the $130 Audition/Membership Package to join TRU and be given priority acceptance.

For consideration, you must fill out an application and postal-mail it with your hard copy headshot and resume before being approved for the event.  Payment alone does not count as registration.  YOU MUST SEND A HEADSHOT/RESUME. There are also a limited number of spots still available for producers looking to cast actors. Contact Carly J. Bauer at [email protected] if you have current or future casting needs and would like to see over 200 actors.

Over 40 producers, theater companies, writers and directors will be sitting in on two days of auditions. Actors can sign up to be seen by them, and by at least three top New York agents, managers and/or casting directors! The event has proven popular over the years with casting professionals. Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) is a twenty-four year old 501c3 nonprofit organization created to help producers produce, emerging theater companies to emerge healthily and all theater professionals to understand and navigate the business of theater. Membership includes self-producing artists as well as career producers and theater companies.

TRU publishes an email community newsletter of services, goods and productions; presents the TRU VOICES Annual New Play Reading Series and Annual New Musicals Reading Series, two new works series in which TRU underwrites developmental readings to nurture new shows as well as new producers for theater; offers a Producer Development & Mentorship Program whose mentors are among the most prominent producers and general managers in New York Theater, and also presents Producer Boot Camp workshops to help aspirants develop the business skills they need. TRU serves writers through a Writer-Producer Speed Date, a Practical Playwriting Workshop, How to Write a Musical That Works and a Director-Writer Communications Lab; programs for actors include the Annual Combined Audition and Resource Nights and “Speed Dating” as well as free actor workshops.
