NEW YORK, NY–(February 16, 2015) – The Roots’ Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson & Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter are proud to receive a GRAMMY Award alongside producers Alex Lacamoire, Bill Sherman and Lin-Manuel Miranda for “HAMILTON (ORIGINAL BROADWAY CAST RECORDING),” the official companion to the acclaimed new musical by Tony, GRAMMY® and Emmy Award-winner Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The highly acclaimed 2-disc CD album (Atlantic Records) arrived in stores in October 2015 and began debuted streaming exclusively via  NPR’s First Listen. Prior to the award show, the Roots kicked off the GRAMMYS with their 10th annual Roots Jam Session. The three night event took place at The Hotel Café in Hollywood, CA and was a whirlwind of groundbreaking performances and mash-ups culminating in appearances from Gary Clark Jr, John Legend, Nelly, Tori Kelly, Leon Bridges, George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars, Bilal and Lenny Kravitz. HAMILTON has received unprecedented critical acclaim since its Off-Broadway debut at the Public Theater earlier this year. “Now playing at Broadway’s Richard Rodgers, HAMILTON features book, music and lyrics by Tony and GRAMMY® Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (IN THE HEIGHTS), who also plays the title role. The musical is directed by Thomas Kail, with choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire.
