FAIRYTALES CAN COME TRUE WITH “YOU SHOULD BE SO LUCKY”

AT THE PLAYERS THEATRE

Sarasota, FL– The Players Theatre announces the hysterical Charles Busch play “You Should Be So Lucky” as its Broadway Season closer from April 22nd until May 3rd. It is replacing the previously advertised show, “Love! Valour! Compassion!” Smart, funny and described as a contemporary “CinderFella” story set in Greenwich Village, “YSBSL” is the perfect comedy to close The Players’ current stellar season. The show dates will not change and tickets previously given for “Love! Valour!…” will still be honored.

On May 1st, there will be a special benefit performance sponsored by Equality Florida. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales for the evening will go to this important cause. Along with the performance, there will be a reception of light bites and a cash bar at 6pm preceding the show as well as a post show meet and greet with the cast accompanied by free wine and dessert selections. Come by, see a show, support a cause and enjoy some complimentary treats and libations.

Story: “You Should Be So Lucky” By Charles Busch, is a delightful Cinderella story reminiscent of the classic screwball comedies of the 1930s. Christopher, a shy and eccentric electrologist, helps an elderly man, Mr. Rosenberg, when he faints in the street. Rosenberg, touched by the young man’s generous spirit, sends Christopher off to a fabulous charity ball where he meets his Prince Charming. Fate takes a turn when Mr. Rosenberg dies suddenly of a heart attack, and leaves half of his fortune to Christopher. The other half of the estate goes to Rosenberg’s fiercely embittered daughter, Lenore, who threatens to contest the will. Christopher doesn’t stand a chance against the suburban matron from Hell until Mr. Rosenberg shows up as a ghost to set the record straight. Good triumphs over evil, and a happy ending ensues for all! (Adult Situations)
