OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS! THE PLAYERS CENTRE FOR

PERFORMING ARTS PRESENTS “LEGALLY BLONDE”

Sarasota, Nov. 17, 2016 The Players Centre for Performing Arts presents the third show in the Wilde Broadway Series – “Legally Blonde the Musical,” playing Dec. 2 through 23. This entertaining and action-packed show based on the novel “Legally Blonde” and the award-winning film of the same name starring Reese Witherspoon doesn’t disappoint. With a book by Heather Hatch, music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin this musical adaptation takes the stage by pink storm. Legally Blonde is a musical that critics praise as being a “hymn to the glories of girlishness.” This fun, upbeat and high energy production is so much fun, it should be illegal!

“Legally Blonde: The Musical” was made possible by the generous contribution from The Woman’s Exchange. Michelle Bianchi Pingel, managing director of The Players comments, “We’re so thrilled at the generosity of The Woman’s Exchange with their $30,000 sponsorship. They are absolutely unfailing in their support of the local arts community and we are so thankful to them. —A story about a strong woman overcoming the odds, ‘Legally Blonde’ is the perfect show for The Woman’s Exchange to support.”

Story: Elle Woods is your typical California girl. After her world is turned upside-down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her, Elle decides to follow him to graduate school. After being accepted to Harvard, Elle realizes she may have more to prove than she originally thought. She embarks on a journey of self-discovery overcoming snobbery, stereotypes and scandals.  This award-winning musical is equal parts hilarious and heart-warming.

Dennis Clark directs and choreographs this hilarious romp, Mara DeCourcy costumes the production while Stage Manager Micah Noelle steers this stellar group of performers. Berry Ayers is the musical director, set design by Michael Newton-Brown, lighting by Nick Jones.
