Call for Performing Artists: Open Stage 2016-2017 season

in partnership with Flushing Town Hall and La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club

The Korean Cultural Service New York (KCSNY) is seeking professional artists and arts organizations to be showcased for the Open Stage 2016-2017 season. This year, in a special double partnership with La Mama Experimental Theatre Club as well as Flushing Town Hall, artists will be provided a chance to perform in versatile performances spaces in Manhattan and Queens, New York.

First introduced in 2012, Open Stage is the performance showcase for rising performers to display their talent to a wide New York audience. Performers of all ages, backgrounds, and genres are encouraged to apply, including classical, dance, traditional music, theater, among others. Selected performers will receive benefits including a performance opportunity, promotion in our program book, and a reception for the performance.

Application Schedule and Required Documents:

  1. Application Deadline: 5 PM, July 10 (Friday), 2015

  2. Announcement of Results : By August 2015, the Korean Cultural Service New York will notify recipients individually via telephone and/or email

  3. Documents and Materials for Submission: The application must be filled out in the prescribed format. Please download the form from the Korean Cultural Service New York’s website

    • Required: 5 (Five) completed application forms

    • Required: Work Samples (Video, Audio, Photos, Scripts, etc)

      (If this performance is a premiere, you must submit work samples of your past

      production/performances)

    • Optional : Other materials if applicable

Inaugurated in 1979, the Korean Cultural Service New York (KCSNY) is a branch of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) of the Republic of Korea. Under the authority of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York, KCSNY works to promote cultural arts exchange and stimulate interest in Korean culture through various opportunities.
