(VINYL TUESDAY)
AND THE CD ON FEBRUARY 5
GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass/country/improvisational outfit THE INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS will release their new full-length album of original songs–featuring some of the best female vocalists around–on February 5th (Compass Records). Appropriately titled LADIES & GENTLEMEN, the 12-song collection features a who’s-who of singers including JOSS STONE, MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER, LEE ANN WOMACK, JOAN OSBORNE and more (full track listing below).
Today, ROLLINGSTONE.COM debuts “I Believe,” featuring Lee Ann Womack, which you can check out here.
This marks the sixth full-length studio album from the American five-piece, who have earned a GRAMMY nomination as well as won multiple International Bluegrass Association Awards since releasing their debut album in 2007.
The band–Andy Hall (dobro), Andy Falco (guitar), Chris Pandolfi (banjo), Jeremy Garrett (fiddle), and Travis Book (bass)–released an acclaimed EP of fan-favorite cover songs (Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, the Highwaymen) in October, and toured throughout November. The “Ladies & Gentlemen” tour will kick off February 8 in Colorado and run through April 10 in Connecticut. They also have two shows in December of 2015: Denver, CO on the 12th (available for video-stream at www.thestringdusters.com) and Baltimore, MD on New Year’s Eve (full concert itinerary below).
Equal parts old school cats and modern operators, the Stringdusters’ latest album, Ladies & Gentlemen highlights the group’s instrumental and compositional prowess. The new set opens up fresh spaces including the drum-boosted contemporary country bounce of “Listen” with airwave vet Joan Osborne, the classic Dolly Parton feel “See How Far” with Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek, Watkins Family Hour), the slow jam slink of “Have A Little Faith” with nu-soul belter Joss Stone, and the contemporary folk breeze of “I Believe” with Lee Ann Womack. Elsewhere Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jennifer Hartswick, Aofie O’Donovan (Crooked Still, Sometymes Why, The Goat Rodeo Sessions), Celia Woodsmith (Della Mae), Sarah Jarosz, Nicki Bluhm, Claire Lynch, and Abigail Washburn weave their voices into one of the group’s strongest song cycles to date.
