THE INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS:

GRAMMY-NOMINATED BLUEGRASS ROCKERS

HIT #1 ON BILLBOARD MAGAZINE BLUEGRASS CHART

WITH RECENTLY-RELEASED

“UNDERCOVER” EP

FALL TOUR KICKS OFF OCTOBER 29
WITH TWO NIGHTS AT BROOKLYN BOWL
UNDERCOVER–the new EP from Grammy-nominated bluegrass enthusiasts THE INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS–has entered Billboard’s Bluegrass Chart at #1. The album, released October 9, is a collection of fan-favorite covers of artists including Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and the Highwaymen. The band will release their next full-length album early next year. RollingStone.com exclusively debuted the STRINGDUSTERS’ version of Petty’s “American Girl,” which you can check out here.
“When we made the call to do this EP, we wanted the process to be relaxed and fun,” says Andy Hall, the band’s dobro player. “We did it in one day 100% live in the studio and had a blast doing it. It’s nice to see people respond to that raw energy, and it’s especially great to see it go to #1 on Billboard Bluegrass chart.” Undercover marks the band’s fifth charting album, and second to hit #1.
The band–Hall, Andy Falco (guitar), Chris Pandolfi (banjo), Jeremy Garrett (fiddle), and Travis Book (upright bass)–will hit the road to support the EP October 29 with a quick 15-date tour, highlighted by two shows in NYC at Brooklyn Bowl.
Equally well-rehearsed and improvisational, the Stringdusters have drawn acclaim and awards for their unique style, with a common denominator of love for bluegrass and country. But their music is more than that, incorporating each of the five members’ eclectic influences. The band has won three International Bluegrass Music Association Awards and received a “Best Country Instrumental” Grammy nomination in 2011. In a 2012 review, the New York TimesJon Pareles said the Stringdusters “have ignored purism, applied their virtuosity to untraditional tunes and structures and found a wider audience along the jam-band circuit…What sounds casual and good-timey – handoffs from player to player, solos that turn into intertwined duets – is intricately plotted and arranged, attentive to the textures of each voice and string. The Infamous Stringdusters don’t leave bluegrass behind; they’re stretching it from within.”
