You are cordially invited to participate in the first in a series of “Industries of the Future” webinars to be held on June 21, 2023. This virtual session, in partnership with FEMA, will focus on how Florida, by harnessing the state’s coastal advantages and promoting responsible and innovative practices, can position itself as a global leader in the Blue Economy, fostering economic growth, job creation, and environmental sustainability for years to come.

Speakers include:

  • Glenn Wiltshire, Deputy Port Director, Port Everglades, and Vice President, Florida Ocean Alliance. Introduction to the Florida Ocean Alliance and brief overview of its Strategic Plan for Florida Coasts and Oceans that was funded by the Florida legislature, plus summary of port technologies for Florida’s Blue Economy.
  • Valerie Seidel, President, The Balmoral Group. Economic impact of Florida’s Blue Economy and linkages to Coastal Resilience.
  • Sherry Larkin, Director, Florida Sea Grant College Program, University of Florida. Discussion of the status of fisheries and the promising future of aquaculture in Florida, plus summary of key maritime training programs.
  • Katherine O’Fallon, Executive Director, Marine Research Hub. Overview of Marine Research Hub and summary of technology projects underway in Florida by Hub clients.
