Acclaimed country duo The Dryes have announced their new impassioned single, “Who Needs To Hear This.” Unveiling exclusively with leading country music outlet, Country Now on Thursday, March 2, the track will be released to the public on Friday, March 3.
Hot off their run with NBC’s THE VOICE, Derek and Katelyn Drye teamed up with chart-topping songwriter Corey Crowder (“Im Comin’ Over,” “Famous Friends,” “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen”among others) to pen this song of empowerment for those who might be in need of a reminder that, no matter the moment and level of adversity they might be facing, everything is going to be okay.
“It’s about being at peace with what you’re feeling and not rushing through it,” says The Dryes. “Flipping on the light too soon can bottleneck the things that need to be felt, and sometimes knowing that you’re not alone is all we need to hear. Our hope for this song is that when someone hears it in their dark times, they’ll be able to put one foot in front of the other. We believe music is healing, and we hope our fans and new listeners will feel exactly that when they listen to this song.”
Known for their irresistible melodies and passionate storytelling, The Dryes possess a warmness and sincerity that is palpable. Approaching their songwriting with a wide armed embrace to all parts of the human experience, from life’s most joyful moments to its most trying, they are effectively playing a role in the de-stigmatization of mental health and encouraging a brave acceptance and love of the human condition. From releasing music speaking candidly on their own real-life marital highs-and-lows to sharing their most private and agonizing experiences of loss and grief to delivering cheerful ballads full of color, The Dryes continue to stand alone in the industry as an act that has built a career from nothing but sheer authenticity, cementing themselves as a force for good.
