THE DOORS’ JOHN DENSMORE TO HOST SCREENING OF DARK SATIRE “WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY” AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATER IN LOS ANGELES TO BENEFIT BERNIE SANDERS CAMPAIGN
The first U.S public screening of the new film Window Of Opportunity will double as a fundraiser for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Set for Wednesday, October 28 at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, the “Window of Opportunity” event will be hosted by producer JOHN DENSMORE (THE DOORS) and writer/director SAM JOSEPH.
The film follows the weekend antics of a pair of corporate fat cats who try to pawn their financial misdeeds off on a young executive, with deadly results. “It’s dark, suspenseful, and comic, and addresses a theme that I’ve been worried about for awhile: corporate greed,” says Densmore, drummer for THE DOORS, best-selling author and longtime social activist. “You couldn’t get more aligned with the themes of this film than Bernie Sanders’ platforms. So, we’ve decided to make the first public screening of the film a fundraiser for Bernie 2016…and make a statement against the corporate greed that’s been tearing apart our country.”
Originally written and produced by Joseph as a Los Angeles stage production, the work drew praise from fans and critics alike. L.A. Weekly said the “dark comedy hilariously skewers a take-no-prisoners corporate culture that would do a cost-benefit analysis on human suffering and for which death may be more profitable than life (4/12/06).” The screening will mark the first time the film (with Oliver Muirhead, Jack Maxwell, Phil Proctor, Rayna Tharani, Kym Jackson and Ty Granderson Jones) has been screened publicly,
with all ticket proceeds going to the campaign.
After his career with The Doors, Densmore pursued a wide array of projects. He has written two books: his best-selling autobiography Riders On The Storm and The Doors Unhinged. He has also written, acted in and made music for a number of plays as well as made several television appearances.
Writer/producer Sam Joseph is an accomplished playwright including the stage musical “Campaign” and the marital infidelity comedy “Two Times Two.” He has also written for a number of TV shows including cartoons like “Dennis the Menace” and “Duck Tales” and the feature film “Off Your Rocker” starring Milton Berle and Red Buttons.
