3rd Annual Beach Party
Venice, Florida, September 7, 2018 – The 3rd Annual Beach Party, hosted by Venice MainStreet Inc. and Fifth Third Bank, arrives September 22 from 2:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at Venice Beach. This “Lovin’ Our Locals” event has quickly become a beloved Venice party, produced for the locals by the locals.
As this summer’s red tide impacted area beaches, Venice MainStreet kept a close eye on how it would affect the Venice Beach Party. “Our first priority when planning something is the safety and health of all our participants,” Erin Silk, VMS Inc. CEO. “We are excited that the beach is starting to return to its normal beauty. This is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the beach again.”
The event, which drew 3,000 participants last year, includes live music, local food vendors and bars. “We will have the finest local foods there and two great beach-themed bands,” said Event Coordinator, Nick Sperry. “This event gets bigger and better each year.”
Two bands are scheduled to play during the event. Sarasota Steel Pan Band, will play from 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and The Shindigs from 4:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. The Sarasota Steel Pan Band performs as a traditional steel band, consisting of vocals, a lead pan, rhythm pans (aka double seconds), bass pans, and a percussion player. The Shindigs play the greatest hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Admission is free and a free shuttle will travel from downtown to the beach and back. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs, but please no coolers or pets. For more information, find Venice MainStreet on Facebook at @venicemainstreet or www.visitvenicefl.org
