TEXAS RANGERS ACQUIRE RHP SPENCER PATTON FROM KANSAS CITY ROYALS FOR RHP JASON FRASOR
Patton slated to participate in Wednesday’s Triple-A All-Star Game

Arlington, Texas—The Texas Rangers today announced that the club has acquired right-handed pitcher Spencer Patton from the Kansas City Royals for right-handed pitcher Jason Frasor.

Patton, who has spent the entire season at Triple-A Omaha, will be assigned to Triple-A Round Round Rock. He will participate as scheduled in Wednesday’s Triple-A All-Star Game in Durham, NC for the Pacific Coast League All-Stars.

Patton, 26, is 4-3 with a 4.08 ERA and 14 saves in 15 save opportunities over 34 relief appearances at Omaha this season. The right-hander is tied for third in the PCL in saves and tops the Storm Chasers in appearances. Patton has fanned 60 batters in just 46.1 innings while holding opponents to a .161 batting average, .161 by RHB and .162 by LHB. He has worked 4.0 scoreless innings in his last three appearances, pitching 1.2 frames in his last outing on July 11 at Colorado Springs.

Kansas City’s 24th round selection in the 2011 First Year Player Draft, Patton was 5-2, 1.86 in 37 appearances between High-A Wilmington and Double-A NW Arkansas in 2013, his first season as a full-time reliever. This is his fourth pro season.

Frasor is 1-1 with a 3.34 ERA in 38 appearances with Texas in 2014, his second year with the club. He originally signed with the Rangers as a free agent prior to 2013 and was 4-3, 2.57 in 61 games before re-signing after the season. Frasor has appeared in 624 major league games with Toronto (2004-12), the Chicago White Sox (2011), and Texas (2013-14).

Patton is not on Texas’ major league roster, which is now at 39 players. The Rangers will make a corresponding roster move to replace Frasor on the 25-man roster prior to Friday’s game in Toronto.
