TELEMUNDO AND MSNBC’S EXCLUSIVE TOWN HALL WITH  PRESIDENT OBAMA

MIAMI – February 25, 2015 –Telemundo and MSNBC presented an exclusive town hall with President Barack Obama on Wednesday, February 25 at 7PM/6C on Telemundo and at 8PM/7C on MSNBC. Telemundo and MSNBC’s José Díaz-Balart interviewed the President about his recently announced executive actions on immigration and their impact on families and communities, and hosted this one-hour special in Spanish and English on both networks. The town hall was taped in Miami at Florida International University (FIU), the fourth largest public university in the U.S. which graduates more Hispanics than any other university in the country.

The Telemundo and MSNBC production offered a unique cross-platform content to draw more Latino viewers across the whole language spectrum in addition to the general market. Díaz-Balart is a 30-year journalism veteran and the only television anchor to host daily newscasts on both English language and Spanish language cable platforms. He currently anchors two Telemundo shows, “Enfoque con José Díaz-Balart” and “Noticiero Telemundo,” and hosts the MSNBC show, “The Rundown with José Díaz-Balart,” the only MSNBC show based in Miami.

In 2014, Telemundo’s news and information properties recorded their best year on record while its competition declined among total viewers and adults 18 to 49. Also in 2014, MSNBC was the top-rated cable network for Hispanic viewers in adults 25-54 during Monday to Friday primetime and was the only cable news network to see an increase in the Hispanic audience over the past year.
