Bennett’s First Standalone Music Video Will Live Exclusively on UOTV for One Week Before Moving to Other Services



New York, NY – June 12, 2017 – Urban Outfitters today announced its exclusive release of Taylor Bennett’s first standalone music video, for the song “Roof Gone,” off of his latest EP Restoration of an American Idol. The music video release marks the second phase of a campaign with UO that has made Bennett the ambassador of the retail giant’s Pride collection, with all proceeds benefitting GLSEN and its mission to ensure safe and affirming schools for LGBTQ+ students. MAC Presents orchestrated the partnership with Bennett’s agent Cara Lewis of C Lewis Group, Urban Outfitters’ Director of Music Ron Ubaldo and Bennett’s manager Joseph Cabey of Just Chicago Group to secure the music video release and Pride campaigns with Urban Outfitters.


The music video for “Roof Gone” is the latest release to come out of the Urban Outfitters Music Video Series, the brand’s ongoing featured music video program. “Roof Gone” will premiere exclusively on UOTV, the brand’s official YouTube Channel, where it will live for one week before moving to other services. UO started the series as a way to work directly and creatively with the artists that the brand and its customers love. Since 2010, UO has produced 28 music videos in collaboration with its favorite artists, labels and directors, who retain full creative control over their projects.


“Roof Gone” is the first single and visual from Restoration of an American Idol, which is available to stream here. Bennett’s music video release comes on the heels of a digital and in-store campaign with Urban Outfitters that launched in conjunction with Pride month on May 30, and will run through the end of June. Bennett came out as bisexual shortly before the release of his critically acclaimed album, Restoration of an American Idol, and accompanying sold-out headlining tour. He will perform at a special Pride celebration in his hometown of Chicago at UO’s North State Street location on Friday, June 23rd.

Taylor Bennett is an independent rapper and musician from Chicago’s South Side. An aspiring rapper since the age of 9, Taylor began self-releasing mixtapes and selling out shows in his hometown by the age of 17. In 2015, he released his formal debut album, Broad Shoulders, featuring collaborations with fellow Chicago musicians Donnie Trumpet, Joey Purp, King Louie and Chance The Rapper. His latest project Restoration of an American Idol dropped Feb. 24, featuring collaborations with Chance, Jeremih, Lil Yachty and Mike WILL Made-It. It was accompanied by a sold-out headlining tour, Taylor’s largest to date. A passionate activist and philanthropist, Taylor has been involved with several Chicago advocacy groups, including Kids Off The Block and Pride Action Tank.
