in the 2015 Giving Challenge 

Since 2007, Texcellence has made technology  accessible to the most disadvantaged students in Sarasota County through home computer distributions. In 2013, Texcellence expanded and launched the first Digital Learning Labs (DLLs) in Sarasota County.  Last Year, Texcellence provided over 4,500 families with access to computers outside the classroom. Help us reach more of the 21,000 students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program and may not have access to technology.

Your support in the 2015 Giving Challenge will:

  • Support the 23 DLLs currently open from Newtown to North Port
  • Provide home computers and educational software to under served students
  • Provide valuable work experience for High School Interns
  • Open 7 more DLLs at local schools and youth serving organizations like Girls Inc. and  Children First.

Khmarious likes to “use the computer to learn so I can get a college degree, like my grandma”. 
Why now?  The results are in.

  • 58% of DLL participants increased their math grades
  • 56% increased their reading grades
  • The average grade point increase was 8 points, almost 1 whole letter grade!

More students need your help. Your gift of $25 or more to support Texcellence in the 2015 Giving Challenge will be matched up to $250 by the Patterson Foundation, dollar for dollar by the Nancy and John Harris Fund, and triple the impact of your gift!

  2. JOIN US. See a Digital Learning Lab in action during one of our Open Houses on Sept. 1 from 4-7 pm at the North Port Library or the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex.
