SLIGHTLY STOOPID is geared up to hit the road for their “Summer Sessions 2014” tour, kicking off tonight (7/9) in Eugene, OR. This marks the acclaimed California ensemble’s eighth annual headlining summer amphitheater outing–a summer tradition in its own right. Also along for the ride are special guests and friends NOFX, Stephen Marley, Cypress Hill, Fishbone and G Love & Special Sauce (select dates). All “Summer Sessions 2014” dates are listed below and at www.slightlystoopid.com.
To coincide with the launch of the tour, SLIGHTLY STOOPID has also announced they’ve loaned their inimitable vocals in a collaboration on a new song “Words,” the debut solo single from their long time musical cohort Sublime drummer/writer/producer Marshall “Ras MG” Goodman, who also served a stint as the band’s drummer in the early 2000s. Listen to the laid back summertime jam here http://youtu.be/OlHz3ZjNwVw. Of his inclusion in “Words,” SLIGHTLY STOOPID’s Miles Doughty shares, “Ras MG’s knowledge in music and life makes it easy to work and blend so many styles together. Fusing blues, hip hop, reggae and anything else he can get his hands on, he elevates the rhythms allowing us to capture the vibes.”
“Words” is available now on iTunes: http://smarturl.it/RasMGWords.
Additionally, SLIGHTLY STOOPID has also dropped a new music video for a remix of their song “No Cocaine,” featuring legendary Jamaican vocalist Capletonas well as multi-platinum reggae group Inner Circle. Check out the exclusive video premiere today at HighTimes.com: http://www.hightimes.com/read/world-premiere-slightly-stoopid-inner-circles-no-cocaine. The video features footage from all across the nation, including clips of SLIGHTLY STOOPID at Red Rocks in Denver as well as San Diego, CA and Inner Circle at Circle House Studios in Miami, FL. The shots with dancehall artist Capleton were filmed on the beaches of Long Beach, NY.
The remix version of the song appeared as the lead track on a collaboration album with VP Records titled Dub Rockers, Vol. 1. The song and compilation is available now on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/dub-rockers-vol.-1/id671509799.
