The Union Democrat writes of SRT’s 2004 production, “They’re the ‘Honky Tonk Angels, all right,’ belting out more than 30 favorite country-western hits and wringing out a tear or two. Anyone who loves country music is going to LOVE this show, and anyone who doesn’t just might be a convert afterwards.”
Greenville News describes Angels as “Heart-thumpin’, foot-stompin’, FULL-TILT ENTERTAINMENT.”
And the Ashville Times writes, “You’ll have to step on your toes to keep them from tappin’.”
According to Broadwayworld.com, “This CHARMING, FOOT-STOMPIN’ musical has played to sold-out audiences across the country.”
“The way the show is formatted, it pulls at the heartstrings, for sure,” Cathy Schenkelberg told The Modesto Bee. “But it can go across any genre of music. The camaraderie between the three women is the heart. No matter what their background is, they’re all being guided by something higher and bigger than themselves. We all have guardian angels.”
THE CAST & CREW: Schenkelberg, who starred as Madame Thenardier in last season’s Les Miserables, joins Becky Saunders (Church Basement Ladies), who starred in Sierra Rep’s previous production of Angels. Michelle Foletta (Gypsy, Annie 2011) also returns. Ryan Moller (Sound of Music, Les Miserables, Cinderella 2012) designs the costumes. Scott Viets directs.
