Sarasota Southside Rotary presents $10,000 charitable donation to Gift of Life of Florida
Sarasota Southside Rotary Club presented Gift of Life with a check for $10,000 at its weekly meeting on Monday, October 12. This gift was made possible by the Morgan Foundation and Sarasota Southside Rotary. Gift of Life is an international non-profit organization that helps children from emerging countries receive treatment for heart disease. There are over 70 Gift of Life programs throughout the world. The Florida chapter works with Gift of Life International and raises funds to support the core programs in Uganda, Jamaica, and El Salvador. Medical teams also provide screening and treatment in the Philippines, Haiti, and Kosovo. Many other children are also treated by coordinating efforts with other like minded charities and hospitals.
“Sarasota Southside Rotary is committed to supporting organizations that serve our community and beyond”, said Herb Jones, President of Sarasota Southside Rotary Club. “We have supported Gift of Life all five years our club has been in existence. They are all about saving kids lives”.
Lou Auricchio with Gift of Life of Florida is thankful for this generous donation which will be maximized through available matching grants and used to treat as many children as possible. “To quote Dr. Forest E. Witcraft, ‘A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child,’ ” said Auricchio.
