New Orleans Nighthawks Jazz Band
The New Orleans Nighthawks are a 7-piece jazz band that performs Dixieland and swing tunes in a New Orleans traditional jazz style. The band’s unusual instrumentation features two trombones and a clarinet lead in the front line. This gives the band a sound that is unique and mellow yet driving and exciting! The rest of the band consists of banjo, bass, drums and a vocalist. The band is led by clarinetist John Skillman.
The New Orleans Nighthawks have been playing together for nine years. Most of the band members are “snowbirds” and perform in Florida from October through April. Each is a jazz veteran of other bands in their northern communities. They play regularly in the Lake Wales, Florida area.
Roser Church is located near the Anna Maria City Pier at 512 Pine Avenue. The Concert Series will be held in the Roser Community Church Sanctuary. There is no admission charge for the concert; a free will offering will be taken.
This is the second of three concerts in the 2016 Concert Series. The series will wrap up on March 13 when we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Irish musician, Paul Duffy.
