RETRO FESTIVE, a Canadian online retailer of quirky merchandise from Christmas culture and pop culture icons, is back for the 2014 Christmas season with a new website, more selection, more categories, and two monumental Anniversaries to celebrate!
On December 1, 1989 a new comedic film by John Hughes called National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was released. Over the past 25 years this film about a father – Clark Griswold – determined to create a traditional family Christmas against all odds (and cousins and parents and blown bulbs and squirrels) has become a holiday favourite. RETRO FESTIVE is the home of all things Griswold and is the exclusive Canadian distributor of glass Marty Moose Mugs, made famous by Christmas Vacation.
“We’re gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f—ing Kaye” – Clark Griswold
The Christmas TV special Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer first aired on NBC on December 6, 1964 and is now an annual holiday tradition around the world. The stop motion animated special featured a mostly Canadian voice cast including Billie Mae Richards as Rudolph, Paul Soles as Hermie the Elf, and Carl Banas as Foreman Elf. RETRO FESTIVE has the largest selection of Rudolph products, featuring that shiny red nose and bouncing Bumbles, this side of Hudson Bay!
RETRO FESTIVE has the all fixings for the perfect ugly Christmas sweater party with more sweater designs than ever before, plus ugly Christmas sweater decorations and accessories such as banners, garlands, coasters and awards for those infamous ugly Christmas sweater contests at the office or in the home. And ‘Holy Mackinaw’ is RETRO FESTIVE ever happy to offer NHL ugly Christmas sweaters for the die-hard hockey fans who wear their team – and Christmas – spirit on their sleeves!
RETRO FESTIVE also features gifts from virtually every Christmas television show and movie, like legs lamps from the classic holiday movie A Christmas Story, and the beloved Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. New products this year include Downton Abbey ornaments, Sons of Anarchy stockings, Despicable Me baubles, and Home Alone turtle dove keepsakes and iconic Kevin McCallister reindeer knit hats – exclusive to RetroFestive.ca!
“You can mess with a lot of things, but you can’t mess with kids on Christmas.” – Kevin McCallister
In 2007 Tyler and Jordie Schwartz of Oakville, Ontario founded RETRO FESTIVE to meet the growing demand for holiday movie collectibles and Christmas kitsch. Tyler is the author of the book A Christmas Story Treasury (Running Press, 2013), which celebrates the 30th anniversary of America’s favourite Christmas movie, and recounts it’s humble Canadian beginnings. RETRO FESTIVE makes shoppers feel like a kid at Christmas all year round!
