A Holiday Live mixtape launched on November 22 and features songs from the performing artists as well similar artists’ current hits, celebrating the end of an amazing year of music.
“As a counterpoint to last year’s triumphant bill of American artists – Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, and G-Eazy, we reached across the pond, starting with a British one-two-three punch,” said Lars Murray, senior vice president, Music Makers Group at Pandora. “The 1975 and Bastille each have over one million station adds, hundreds of millions of listeners and millions of listeners each week, proving Pandora is a permanent home for Alternative Pop. Our opener, Bishop Briggs, just passed 10 million spins and is growing fast. Holiday Live is our present to all three artists’ listeners.” Bishop Briggs has also been on the Pandora Trendsetters Chart for the past seven weeks and counting.
The event advances Pandora’s focus on helping artists grow their careers. This began with the launch of Artist Marketing Platform (AMP) in October 2014 and continued with the introduction of Artist Audio Messages in February 2015, AMPcast in March 2016, and the recent rollout of the updated AMP platform. The 2015 acquisitions of Next Big Sound and Ticketfly have helped deepen this partnership by providing even more data to artists and making it easier to connect with fans through live events.
Pandora Holiday Live attendees will be treated to custom activations from sponsors including: Advance Auto Parts, Charter Spectrum, Clorox® Cleaning Products, Express, Ford SYNC® 3, Garmin®, GhostBed, Mentos Pure Fresh Gum and Miller Lite.

U.K. art-pop quartet, THE 1975 has had the sort of breakthrough that only happens once in a decade. Matty Healy (vocals, guitar), George Daniel (drums), Adam Hann (guitar, keyboard), and Ross MacDonald (bass) formed at school on the outskirts of Manchester ten years ago. After honing their sound, 2013’s self-titled debut album (Dirty Hit / Interscope Records) revealed a band who could blend accessible and anthemic choruses with a pioneering artistic aesthetic. A mass cult audience connected with their tales of adolescent recklessness. The group toured the world, playing sold-out shows from Kuala Lumpur to San Francisco. This year the band released their sophomore album, I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album and the Official UK Albums Chart. Produced by Healy and Daniel alongside production collaborator Mike Crossey, I like it when you sleep…, was met with praise across the board from critics and fans alike. A bold and brilliant record made up of infectious pop hooks, sprawling electronica, ambient soundscapes, progressive guitar work and a forward thinking modernistic take on what it is to be a band in 2016 – an ambitious stride forward for the UK’s most exciting band.
U.K. band Bastille made its debut in 2013 with the album Bad Blood, which entered the U.K. album chart at No. 1. It has since sold more than four million albums worldwide alongside 11 million singles. The global hit “Pompeii” was certified 5x Platinum in the U.S., where it topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs, Adult Alternative Songs and Dance Club Songs charts. The singles “Bad Blood” and “Flaws” were certified Gold. Bastille won a BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act and received two GRAMMY® nominations and two American Music Awards nominations. Rolling Stone hailed Bastille as “Brit pop’s new crown princes” upon the release of the band’s second album, Wild World, which retained the vivid, filmic songwriting of its predecessor, but pushed the band’s unique sound in new directions. In the U.K., Wild World debuted at No. 1 on the album chart. The band returns to the road with the extensive “Wild, Wild World Tour.” Founded by Dan Smith (vocalist/songwriter), Bastille’s line-up is completed by Chris Wood (drums), Will Farquarson (guitar) and Kyle Simmons (keyboards).
Born in London of Scottish and Irish heritage, Bishop Briggs grew up in Japan and Hong Kong. Days after graduating high school, she moved to L.A. to hone her artistic vision with the help of producers Mark Jackson and Ian Brendon Scott. Her music transcends the limitations of singular genres, blending folk, pop and electronic music into a wholly unique sound. Her debut track, “Wild Horses”, topped charts and earned a prized spot in Acura’s 2016 TLX and ESPN’s NFL Playoffs ads. Bishop Briggs has followed up with “River,” a searing and cathartic track that has already captured the attention of tastemakers and gatekeepers, peaking at #3 on the Alternative chart (she’s the only female artist in the top 10) with over 17 million global streams. With more new material and live performances/opening slots for Coldplay, Passion Pit and Kaleo, Bishop Briggs is poised to be one of 2016’s biggest breakout artists.
