“Big Eyes continue to be one of NYC’s best-kept secrets as far as melodic punk bands go.” – BrooklynVegan

“Big Eyes borrows from its 1970s power-pop forebears, but the candor of Eldridge’s voice and bright, punky guitars make this the sound of summer vacation in a teen movie.” Pitchfork

“It’s Big Eyes at their best, with Kaitlyn Eldridge’s taking over as one of the more powerful instruments of the ensemble.”Stereogum

Following the strength of the debut single and title track of Big Eyes’ upcoming third album, the Brooklyn band, fronted by Kait Eldridge, shows that they aren’t backing down any time soon: “Behind Your Eyes,” the second single, has just debuted via BrooklynVegan. The band will be touring in August supporting their album, including a hometown kickoff on August 16. Stake My Claim, the upcoming LP, falls in line between a punk band with pop sentiment and a power pop group with an edge, and the band is perfectly comfortable staking their claim in between the lines. The heavily anticipated Stake My Claim will be released by Don Giovanni Records on August 19.

21 year old New Yorker Kait Eldridge began to channel her post-adolescent angst into solo demos that would become the first Big Eyes 7”. Now at age 28, Eldridge shows maturity but doesn’t let go of her youthful energy. Stake My Claim, the band’s third full length, was recorded throughout the fall and winter of 2015. It opens with their heaviest song to date, the title track, which sets a tone of Kait at a crossroad: “‘Cause nothing stays the same / stake my claim.” Her lyrics are centered around dissatisfaction and a need for change. Throughout the entirety of Big Eyes’ discography, there is an undercurrent of sadness and frustration, but within Stake My Claim, Kait has found a sense of acceptance and her own distinct balance between punk, hard rock, and pop.
