New and Returning Series Premiere in March on NYC Life, PROFILING

NYC Life – We’ll Get You Through It  

NYC Life, the City of New York’s lifestyle channel, will introduce its new lineup of programming this March. The lineup features new series and returning favorites – from Neighborhood Slice, a half hour show revealing the best of each neighborhood through the eyes of the City’s most seasoned locals, to a cooking show that this season explores the journey of local food, from fishing to the frying pan, with the Emmy Award-winning Frankie Cooks. Also a part of the new season is NYC Catalyst, a short video series dedicated to special New Yorkers who are triggering change in their communities. NYC Life, part of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, is available in the New York tri-state area on broadcast, cable, and satellite channels. NYC Media recently received 15 nominations from the 2015 New York Emmy Awards, which honor distinction in television.

“NYC Life offers viewers a unique perspective about life in New York City with a mix of entertaining programming,” said Commissioner Cynthia López, Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment. “Our shows provide insights into the people, landmarks, and cuisine that can only be found in New York. The City is truly at your fingertips with NYC Life.”

The lineup premieres Monday, March 2, 2015, with new seasons of:

Bare Feet: Mondays, 9pm
Fellow New Yorker and travel host Mickela Mallozzi takes viewers on her adventures as she experiences the world, one dance at a time. Mickela’s travels explore the traditional side of every culture while connecting with the local community through celebration and artistic expression.
Blueprint: New York City: Tuesdays, 8:30pm
Look past the bricks and mortar and discover the history of some of the most famous buildings in a new season of Blueprint: New York City. Each episode offers a nuts-and-bolts perspective behind storied sites, like the Wonder Theaters and the Highline, with walking tours and interviews with experts who have a passion for the history and architecture of New York City.

Inside Lens:
Tuesdays, 9:30pm
Inside Lens
features diverse filmmakers from News and Documentary at NYU Journalism who bring viewers stories from New York to Shanghai, from the East Village to Tunis.

Crain’s New York Stories:
Wednesdays, 8pm
Crain’s New York Business profiles entrepreneurs in the five boroughs of New York with New York Stories. Viewers will hear stories of inspiration, commitment, and success from all types of people and businesses.


Neighborhood Slice: Wednesdays, 8:30pm
Chronicling the evolution of New York City’s unique neighborhoods through the eyes of those who have lived here the longest, each half hour episode of Neighborhood Slice features New Yorkers who have been a part of the fabric of their communities for decades in neighborhoods across the City.

92Y on NYC Life: Wednesdays, 9pm
On 92Y on NYC Life, viewers can experience talks, conversations, and readings from 92nd Street Y’s vast archive. This season’s conversations include guitarist Jimmy Page, actress Shirley MacLaine, performer Jennifer Lopez, and members of the Stanley Cup-winning 1994 NY Rangers.

Books du Jour: Wednesdays, 10:30pm
Books du Jour puts viewers in the middle of great conversations between some of the most intelligent, creative, and successful published writers, including John Benditt (The Boatmaker), Pamela Fiori (In the Spirit of Monte Carlo), Okey Ndibe (Foreign Gods, Inc.), and Amy Sohn (The Actress), among others. Each conversation is moderated by the show’s executive producer and host Frederic Colier.
Frankie Cooks: Thursdays, 8:30pm
The Emmy Award-winning Frankie Cooks features Chef Frankie Celenza sharing his tips for tasty meals made in a New York kitchen. In the new season, Frankie travels all over the City – from local fisheries to rooftop gardens – finding great produce, meat, and fish harvested right here in New York City to prepare simple, unpretentious, and delicious recipes.


Potluck Video: Thursdays, 9pm
Potluck Video
brings everyone to the table with the best of food and drink in New York City. From interviews with the City’s most renowned chefs and personalities to behind-the-scenes looks with restaurateurs, mixologists, and producers, the only thing viewers need to bring along is their appetite.


What’s Eating Harlem: Thursdays, 9:30pm
What’s Eating Harlem provides an inside look at latest cultural, culinary, and artistic offers of Harlem, from the launch of a new restaurant featuring South African cuisine to a young jazz musician learning his craft at the Bloomingdale School of Music.

Firehouse Kitchen: Thursdays, 11:30pm
Featuring delicious recipes, budget friendly meals, and fire safety tips, each episode of Firehouse Kitchen offers an inside look into the unique lifestyle and comradery of firefighters.

Brooklyn Savvy:
Sundays, 8am

Featuring a panel of diverse women and featured guests, each episode of Brooklyn Savvy offers insights and perspectives on a variety of topics impacting New Yorkers, from healthcare to access to equal opportunities.

Urban Animals: Sundays, 7:30pm

In Urban Animals, host Tony Sawicki discovers how animals – both wild and domestic – have adapted to life in the city.
Short, NYC-centric programs round out the lineup and are available to view online following their broadcast. NYC Catalyst spotlights individuals who are making a positive impact on the lives of their fellow New Yorkers.
