New Yorkers were in an Empire State of Mind on May 24th. A group gathered at the Empire State Building to participate in a red lighting ceremony with model and actress, Naomi Campbell to celebrate Red Nose Day. Red Nose Day is a national event to raise money and awareness for children in need – here in the US and globally. Along with Ms. Campbell were Terry Mills, VP Partnerships of Red Nose Day and representatives from Red Nose Day partner-NBC, Walgreens and M&M’s.
Audrey Pass, Chief Marketing Officer of Empire State Realty Trust, kicked off the ceremony at noon which was held on the 86th floor observatory. Terry Mills also took to the podium to make a few opening remarks. Naomi Campbell entered the room in a white pants suit to the sound of flashing lights and cameras. After her brief remarks, Ms Campbell was presented with a statue of the Empire State Building to commemorate the day and for participating in the lighting ceremony. Etched on the statue were the words Comic Relief.
She was met with cheers from the press as she lit a model of the Empire State Building with a red light. Ms Campbell displayed a playful air as she put on her red nose and posed for photographs. A photo opportunity followed after the lighting ceremony which was by invitation only. The ceremony culminated in a primetime TV event on NBC. The Red Nose Day Special, broadcast live from Los Angeles 9-11 p.m. ET. The star-studded night featured hilarious comedy and incredible music performances from Hollywood’s biggest stars as they joined the FUN-raising for an awesome cause.
