MORPHING ROCK N’ROLL WITH ALTERNATIVE HIP-HOP

PANDA CITY TO RELEASE SELF TITLED DEBUT EP ON JUNE 28

The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.  These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious and political beliefs, or other ideologies.  It is the exploration of these differences, understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity.

In early 2016 as news channels showcased relations of all kinds strained across the globe, South Bronx artist Clacc brought together four musicians from different walks of life and musical backgrounds to create Panda City. Proving once again that music builds bridges, this unit reflects a multi-racial-ethnic-musical blend that can’t be categorized in any one genre.

Panda City is: Clacc – vocals, Justin – Bass, Young E – Guitar, Mazz-1 – Drums. The name is meant to reflect the make-up of the players, a black guy from the South Bronx, two Jewish Yankees and a NOLA redneck. It wasn’t an intentional mix, but the foursome blended together effortlessly with each bringing something unique to the menu.

“Panda city, in my opinion, cannot be defined. We are a group that differs in age, race, religion, and anything else you could think of. Yet, it is this very thing that makes us such an interesting group. We have no “sound” and laugh at the term “category.” Our musical experiences range from Punk Rock all the way to Hip Hop and back” – Clacc

The band’s upcoming self-titled debut EP is unorthodox yet flows without a glitch. The song “Don’t Shoot” documents the negative effects of guns in America and how it affects us all. “Guns know no race, gender or religion.” explains songwriter and frontman Clacc

Elsewhere on the release “Secrets” conveys how we often conceal untold tales behind false smiles. “People Under The Sun” tells a very honest tale of somebody who watched drugs ruin relationships within a family, but at the same time provided them with a roof over our head. With a less serious message “Poppin” is a cool blend of sounds and is all about just having fun.

Morphing alternative hip-hop with slow jams, rock n’roll and even a little jazz Panda City is planning to bring a mix of consciousness and musicality to the party.
