Monday, September 29: Vice President Biden to Deliver Remarks at Event Announcing Winners of Job-Driven Training Grants
WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, September 29, Vice President Biden will deliver remarks at an event announcing the winners of job-driven training grants going to community colleges in every state.
The funding is part of the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) competitive grant program. Combining these new funds and grants awarded over the last three years, TAACCCT has invested nearly $2 billion in hundreds of community colleges all across the country.
The winners represent partnerships between community colleges, businesses, labor, and other local leaders all across the country that will use these funds—totaling $450 million — to develop training programs that will help job seekers get the skills they need for in-demand jobs in a number of growing fields including information technology, health care, energy, and advanced manufacturing.
These grants are an important part of the Vice President’s work to advance the Administration’s efforts to equip workers with the skills employers need, connect employers with skilled workers, and grow the American economy.
Vice President Biden will be joined by Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
