MELODIC HOUSE DOMINATES WORLDWIDE CHARTS
WITH FAUL, KLINGANDE, MR. PROBZ AND BAKERMAT
ON ULTRA MUSIC
“SHE MOVES” BY ALLE FARBEN
AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA MAY 19
There’s a revolution of electronic music that is taken place with a new breed of young producers coming up–a cluster of studio mavens who are charting at #1 across the European continent and racking up social media hits that rival the most household names in EDM, yet their sound is totally different. Tapping into smooth guitars and saxophone riffs–set to gentle deep house beats–the music of artists like Faul and Klingande from France, Mr. Probz and Bakermat from Holland and Germany’s Alle Farben are bringing a fresh and invigorating sound across the Atlantic at dance music powerhouse label Ultra Music.
Aural beauty is captured in Faul & WAD AD vs PNAU’s “Changes.” Overseas the track–which has already garnered 50 million cumulative YouTube views, 14 million Spotify streams and almost five million plays on the French producer’s soundcloud page–is a Top 10 track in 27 territories and #3 on Shazam worldwide. “Changes” and Mr. Probz “Waves” could both easily be called the most game-changing tracks on the planet right now. Peaking at #1 on iTunes in 20 countries, “Waves (Robin Schultz Remix),” with its glorious undertones, has attracted over 68 million streams on Spotify and 33 million views on YouTube. It holds the #4 position on Shazam worldwide and is currently #4 on the European airplay chart.
Bakermat’s “One Day (Vandaag)”-which samples Martin Luther King’s iconic “I Have A Dream” speech set against an elementary house groove coated with a smooth jazz sax—has also struck a chord with music fans. It boasts over 3.5 million SoundCloud plays and has had over 18 million YouTube views. The number hit #1 in such major European markets as France, Germany, Hungary and Bakermat’s native Holland.
More on the sax-house tip comes from France’s Klingande who have scored large with “Jubel.” With over six million SoundCloud plays and its video with 40 million cumulative YouTube views, the song’s feel-good mix of acid jazz and deep house has resonated in a big way with listeners. The track has scored a healthy stock of #1’s in such places as Germany, France, Austria, Estonia, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Latvia along with achieving double platinum status in Sweden and Italy.
On May 19, Ultra will add to their current collection of melodic house releases with “She Moves (Far Away)” featuring Graham Candy from Alle Farben. Already the track has caused a stir with a no-frills street video featuring simple shots of kids dancing to it. The song itself is bubbling overseas entering at #19 on the singles charts and #19 on iTunes overall in Germany, the only territory that has released the track.
The question remains: who are these artists and how is it they have come to receive so much exposure overseas? Following dubstep and trap, will melodic house be the next movement in the electronic music scene in the U.S.?
