Make America Kind Again: Commit to an Act of Kindness on International Pay It Forward Day

Pay It Forward Foundation Aims to Inspire More Than 10 Million Acts of Kindness

April 25, 2016 – Chicago, Ill. – A single day of the year set to inspire random acts of kindness among strangers that generates a ripple effect from one person to the next, and one community to the next, April 28 marks International Pay It Forward Day (PIFD). Now in its ninth year, previous PIFD acts of kindness include:

  • Food drives,
  • Book donations,
  • Skills-based volunteering,
  • Buying a family’s meal, and
  • Donating money to a nonprofit.

From buying a cup of coffee to planning a charity event, committing to a single act of kindness can be as simple or as involved as you’d like. While the third Thursday in April is the official day of recognition, selfless giving can happen anytime, anywhere.

Motivated by its customers who have embraced Pay It Forward when they gift movie nights or treats to fellow movie-renters, starting today Redbox is giving back to its customers by randomly passing out bags of JOLLY TIME® Pop Corn to enrich viewers’ movie-watching experiences. Dubbed #RedboxPayItForward, consumers are asked to post on social media and share their stories of paying it forward.

For 2016’s international PIFD, the Pay It Forward Foundation aims to inspire more than 10 million acts of kindness around the world.

In 2015, people from 75 countries participated in PIFD with individuals working on proclamations in 42 states and 48 cities. For more information on PFID, visit http://www.payitforwardfoundation.org/
