DEPORTES TELEMUNDO, THE HOME OF REIGNING LIGA MX CHAMPION CLUB LEÓN, PRESENTS:
LEÓN-CRUZ AZUL THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 22 AT 10PM EST/9 CST/7 PST LIVE ON TELEMUNDO
FEATURING THE TELEMUNDO SPORTSCASTING DEBUT OF MEXICAN SOCCER LEGEND AND FORMER CRUZ AZUL PLAYER CARLOS HERMOSILLO
Miami –March 20, 2014- Deportes Telemundo presents the eagerly awaited encounter between reigning Mexican league champ León and current tournament leader Cruz Azul, this Saturday, March 22 live at 10 PM EST/9 CST/7 PST. The broadcast marks the Telemundo sportscasting debut of Mexican soccer legend Carlos Hermosillo alongside world-famous narrator Andrés Cantor and fellow commentator Sammy Sadovnik. Every minute of the final can also be viewed live online at deportestelemundo.com and on mobile devices via the “Deportes Telemundo” app.
The last time Cruz Azul won the championship was in 1997, thanks to a game-winning goal by Carlos Hermosillo against none other than León. The historic rivalry between the two teams will be put to the test again this Saturday, and Carlos Hermosillo will be there – this time, as part of the Deportes Telemundo team.
Cruz Azul leads the league with only one loss in the 2014 “Clausura” tournament. For its part, León is coming straight from the local club tournament and the Liberators’ Cup. Coach Gustavo Matosas has kept the team in both competitions despite the physical demand on its players. León is hungry for victory over its old rival to boost its current standing in the tournament: four wins, five losses and two ties.
León and Cruz Azul have played each other five times since León’s return to the first division, resulting in one win for León and two for Cruz Azul.
