Sarasota, FL February 18, 2014…Inspiring millions with his open-hearted, emotive playing and dubbed by The New York Times as “The hottest artist on the classical music planet…” Lang Lang has become a music sensation. He has played at some of the most prestigious venues in the world including The White House, and Buckingham Palace. Lang Lang will be performing at the Van Wezel on February 26, 2014.

In the small Chinese town Shenyang, Lang Lang started playing piano at age three. By age five, he had given his first public recital; at age nine, he entered Beijing’s Central Music Conservatory. After playing the complete Chopin Etudes at the Beijing Concert Hall at age thirteen, he left his home country and moved to America to attend the world-famous, Curtis Institute of Music. Since then Lang Lang has had a phenomenal career journey and shows no signs of slowing down!

Lang Lang has partnered with some of the world’s greatest artists and has also had some surprising collaborations such as his dramatic performance with Metallica at the 2014 Grammys. Time Magazine recently included Lang Lang in the “Time 100”, the magazine’s annual list of the 100 Most Influential people in the World. It is not only Lang Lang’s breathtaking talent that makes him influential, Lang Lang tries to give back wherever he can. He has had much involvement in charitable work and launched the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, with goals that include championing music education at the forefront of technology. The Financial Times described Lang Lang as “evangelical in his efforts to spread the popularity of classical music.”

With a resume that reads like a best seller, full of achievements, honors and a whole host of awards, Lang Lang’s performance truly is a must see!
