Community Awards are given to award winners at the CPC’s Blue Ribbon Breakfast every April, however due to the concerns over the COVID-19 virus the 2020 awards breakfast was postponed until further notice.

In a small meet up at the CPC location; Douglas Stanley, CPC Executive Director, awarded JLS the Community Partner of the Year Award. Accepting the award on behalf of the JLS organization was Melissa Hembree, JLS President; along with JLS members Shelby Marsh, CPC Prevention Educator; Ariane Beauchamp, CPC Prevention Educator; and Michelle McSwain, CPC Program Director.

The Child Protection Center was created by JLS 40 years ago, then named the Junior Welfare League. Since that time JLS has partnered with CPC through various volunteering opportunities, grants, and projects that include creating a welcoming space for the children in the lobby, painted murals in the hallways and stairwells, updating and maintaining the playground, and updating the playrooms that are used after interviews and medical exams.
