The program features storytelling with concert performances, connecting jazz enthusiasts and potential new fans with artists and venues – and each other – through weekly, one-hour broadcasts and an array of 26 live signature videocasts and on-demand video of jazz events from today’s great artists and venues.

 

Sunday Piano Jazz with Marian McOartland: 8 p.m.

For more than 30 years, Marian McPartland brought us illuminating visits with artists from the jazz world and beyond. These hours of music and conversation form a rich broadcast legacy only Marian could have created. It’s an invaluable archive we sample from every Saturday evening on WUSF, your NPR station.

A SPECTACULAR NEW YEAR’S EVE AT JD’S 
12-31-15
JD’s Chef has created an elegant pre-fixe menu of sumptuous dishes worthy of the year’s biggest celebration. JD’s New Year’s line-up will include two separate seatings.
From 5:30 to 8:30, The Kitt Moran Trio will perform with Kitt Moran on Vocals, Mike Moran on Piano and Dominic Mancini on Bass.
Seating begins at 5:00p.m. for the first show. Reservations before 7:00p.m. will have a 2 1/2 hour dining time with complimentary Champagne upon arrival!
The second seating will begin at 8:45p.m.with the Danny Sinoff Trio. Reservations after 8:45p.m. will receive complimentary Champagne at midnight.
Get your reservations as soon as possible as this is filling up quickly.
A deposit of $50.00 per person is required when making your reservation. Deposit is refundable up till December 20th. After December 20th, deposit is non-refundable.Check out the NEW YEAR’S EVE MENU it’s amazing!

With a voice praised as “a deep contralto as smooth and dark as the richest espresso” (Jazz Times, November 2007,) award-winning jazz vocalist Alexis Cole has made an impressive impact on audiences ever since she first took the stage as a teenager.

Winner of the 2007 Jazzmobile competition and an award recipient of the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition, Alexis was cited as “a rising star in the jazz world” by Hot House Magazine.  Cole will perform at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center on Sunday, January 3 at 6pm.

“Swinging in the New Year.”  The Savory Swing Band gets 2016 off to a swinging start by presenting a Double Concert benefiting All Faiths Food Bank Sunday, January 3, at 3:00 p.m. in St. Andrew United Church of Christ, 6908 Beneva Rd., Sarasota.
Joe Bruno and his Dixieland Hot Dogs along with Dick Hamilton’s West Coast Jazz Sextet will play great music from the ’40’s, ’50’s and ’60’s. It’s a concert everyone can enjoy.
Tickets are $10.00 each, and proceeds go to All Faiths Food Bank to replenish its food supplies depleted during the holiday season. Canned food will be accepted at the concert.
Tickets may be ordered in advance by calling 941-346-2248 and must be picked up and paid for at the door at least 20 minutes before the concert begins. The church’s parking lot entrance is on Curtiss Ave., one block north of Gulf Gate Drive.
