Alt-rock band Grizfolk will make its network television debut tonight with a performance on “Late Show with David Letterman.” The group, which recently wrapped up a U.S. headline run, will be supporting Smallpools on a North American tour that kicks off on April 14 at Fitzgerald’s in Houston, TX. The run will include shows at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City (May 11) and the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles (May 29). See below for itinerary. Tickets for the tour will go on sale beginning this Friday, February 20. Grizfolk will also be performing at numerous festivals, including Pot of Gold, Hangout, Bottlerock and Firefly.
Grizfolk’s pulse-driving new single, “Hymnals,” has been praised by Pigeons & Planes as “a fast-paced affair…[with] a catchy hook.” The “Hymnals” tour video, which can be viewed HERE, captures highlights from the band’s time on the road. A live version of the song appears on Grizfolk’s new EP,From The Road (Virgin Records), which was recorded live during the group’s stint supporting the chart-topping U.K. band Bastille. The tour found them playing to sold-out audiences from coast-to-coast at such venues as New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Key Arena in Seattle and Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall.
iTunes put Grizfolk’s debut EP, From The Spark (Virgin Records), on its Best of 2014: New Artist EPs list and named the collection’s first single, “The Struggle,” among the Best of 2014: New Artist Tracks.Remix master RAC’s versions of “Hymnals” and “The Struggle” jumped to #1 on Hype Machine’s popular chart.
The band’s distinctive sound, which forges sharp, raw vocals with edgy electronic textures and heavy guitar and drums, prompted KCRW’s Jason Bentley to champion Grizfolk as one of his favorite new bands, leading to an appearance on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Grizfolk’s music has been licensed by such shows as MTV’s “Finding Carter” and “Generation Cryo” and The CW’s “The Originals” and “Hart of Dixie.”The bandalsowrote and recorded a song for the end title sequence ofDreamWorks’ Mr. Peabody & Sherman.
