The Magic of The Madison Square Garden Company

New York, NY (August 8, 2014) – For the sixth consecutive summer, the Garden of Dreams Foundation will host Dream Week , its week-long summer experience for 40 children (10-12 years old) from the Police Athletic League, one of its 22 partner organizations. The children will enjoy one-of-a-kind activities planned by the New York Knicks, Rangers, Liberty, MSG Networks, MSG Sports Properties and MSG Entertainment at various locations throughout the tri-state area including, but not limited to, Madison Square Garden, the MSG Training Center, Radio City Music Hall, MetLife Stadium and Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond Park.

Dream Week  is one of the Foundation’s core programs, exposing New York City’s neediest children to exclusive summer activities outside of their daily environment. Throughout Dream Week, each division of The Madison Square Garden Company will bring opportunities and celebrity involvement to create positive memories for the children that will last a lifetime.

The children will participate in events with Knicks legends John Starks and Larry Johnson, Rangers legends Rod Gilbert and Ron Greschner, the Rockettes and Liberty legends Teresa Weatherspoon and Kym Hampton, as well as players from the New York Giants.  Additionally, each child will receive gifts from the Knicks, Rangers, Liberty and Footlocker, who is providing new sneakers for every child.

Outlined below is an itinerary of events for the week:

Monday, August 11
MSG Network (MetLife Stadium); 3:30pm – 5:30pm
•   The kids will enjoy a visit to the New York Giants preseason camp at MetLife Stadium

Tuesday, August 12
New York Liberty (Circle Line Cruise); 11:00am-12:15pm

  • The kids will enjoy a boat ride around the Hudson River

 

New York Liberty GDF Night (Madison Square Garden); 6:00pm

•   Attend Liberty vs. Phoenix Mercury game
•   Participate in various game interactive activities including the National Anthem, halftime performer and PA announcer

Wednesday, August 13
New York Knicks (MSG Training Center); 10:00am – 12:00pm
•   Take part in physical fitness activities with Knicks legends John Starks and Larry Johnson
•   Interactive tour of Knicks locker room, training room and practice court
New York Rangers (Training Center); 1:00pm – 3:30pm
•   Skate on the Rangers practice ice
•   Meet Rangers legends Rod Gilbert and Ron Greschner
Thursday, August 14
Sports Properties (Stadium Tennis Center at Mill Pond Park), 10:00am – 12:00pm
•   Attend a tennis clinic with four professional tennis players and learn the basics of the game

 

MSG Entertainment (Rockefeller Center® & Radio City Music Hall), 1:30pm – 3:30pm
•   Enjoy a visit to the Top of the Rock®.
•   Taking an interactive class with the Rockettes and a hip hop dance class with model Damaris Lewis
Friday, August 15
Field Day Activities (Training Center); 10:00am – 12:00pm
•   Enjoy inflatable activities, slip n slide and various field day activities
•   Knicks’ Groove Truck and Road Tour activities

 

BBQ and Awards (Training Center); 12:30pm – 3:30pm
•   Celebrate the week with a BBQ lunch and special presentation, where each child who participated in Dream Week
receives an award
